#1: Two AIEGL prizes (to be advertised every five years), one of which will be awarded for a work in the field of Greek epigraphy, the other for a work in the field of Latin epigraphy, consist of 2.500 Euro each and are reserved to works almost ready for publication but not published yet. The works may consist in a corpus of inscriptions or in a study essentially concerned with epigraphic material; the prizes are intended to support young researchers and therefore authors must be under age of 40 when they submit their works.
PDF of the complete manuscripts should be sent by September 30, 2016, to the Secretary general:

together with a letter of recommendation by a member of AIEGL and a letter of acceptance written by the editor of a scientific series or from a publishing house.
The Bureau has appointed a Committee of specialists, the so-called IIIviri, who will examine the works and will appoint the winners; the prizes will be awarded during the meeting of AIEGL which will be held in Vienna on September 1st, 2017; the works, once published, should acknowledge the financial support of AIEGL.
Manuscripts will not be returned.

#2: AIEGL will award three Géza Alföldy stipends in 2016/17 in the amount of EUR 2,000 each to dedicated epigraphists from outside Europe who want to deepen their international contacts by participating in the XVth International Congress of Greek and Latin Epigraphy, to be held from August 28 to September 1st, 2017, at the University of Vienna.
In order to be eligible for the Géza Alföldy stipends, applicants must meet the following conditions:
1. Applicants must be active members of AIEGL who have their PhD or equivalent degree at the time of application and whose doctoral degree was awarded in 2009 or later.
2. Applications should be submitted to AIEGL by September 30, 2016. Abstracts to the Vienna Congress must be submitted independently. Decisions about the award of Géza Alföldy stipends will be announced by November 30, 2016.
3. Applications from those whose abstracts have been accepted for the Vienna Congress will be evaluated by a panel of IIIviri praemiis dandis appointed by the Bureau of AIEGL from among senior members of our Association. Final decisions, based upon their recommendations will be made by the Bureau of AIEGL.
